The Charlotte Observer and the School of Communication at Queens University of Charlotte are hosting a Social Media Conference on Jan. 23. You’ll attend seminars led by some of the area’s most innovative social networkers on topics ranging from launching a community web site to using social media to improve your career to just having more fun on your social networks.

If you’re a newbie to this world, we’ve got you covered with a nearly 2 hour Social Networking 101 course.

Throughout the day, you’ll hear from some of the most forward-thinking social media gurus in the region, including Jeff Elder, Lisa Hoffman, Crystal Dempsey, Scott Hepburn and Jason Silverstein. Rick Thames, Observer editor, will deliver the keynote address. Capping it all off will be a panel discussion on The Next Hot Thing in Social Networking.
